What makes a 'Luxury' Holiday?

By Joelie Trant

Luxury means spoiling yourself. Everyone has their own ideas of what they turn to for comfort, and everyone has their own type of place that they enjoy too. But there are some things about luxury holidays that tend to remain constant, whatever the alterations of personal taste. You basically want to make sure that you're in for something that justifies its larger price tag.

Service is a big part of what makes a luxury holiday good for you. If you have staff on hand to see to your every need, then it can be much easier to unwind. This expertise extends to the people on hand beyond simple areas of room service too. Finding great cooks in the hotel restaurant, helpful waiters, or top-notch experts on hand with advice towards holiday activities, can really make the difference when it comes to that atmosphere of opulence.

Within the place you're staying, whether it's a resort or a more contained hotel, you should be able to expect a range of great facilities. There's nothing like a bit of pampering to really make you feel like you've come somewhere special. Getting an expert massage, or signing up for a bit of beauty treatment is a brilliantly relaxing way to break up a stay. There should also be sports facilities for people that want to get a little more active during their time away.

Finally, your accommodation itself should have an air of opulence to it. Again, this comes in different forms. But whether it's your own private chalet, or a tenth story apartment room, you should be able to count of sumptuous beds, and a real attention to detail when it comes to comfort and styling. Luxury features such as private swimming pools are a nice touch too.

Whatever your tastes, you should be able to find a luxury holiday experience to suit your view of what luxury is.
