Puerto Rico resorts - El Conquistador

By JoBeth Levina

Puerto Rico is a favored winter destination for many folks from the US, who need a slice of the good life while escaping the cold winter weather. During the high point of the season, during Jan to March, you'll find many American holiday makers packed into comprehensive resorts like El Conquistador to enjoy their Puerto Rico vacations.

El Conquistador lies at the north east of the island, overlooking the ocean with a view that stretches on. There are five separate areas to El Conquistador, that the resort styles as "villages", with the top end La Casita including servant service.

Whichever option you choose for your accommodation, you may be sure you'll find lots to do. With 20 cafes and bars you'll always find something that each member of your folks wants to eat - including real Caribbean cuisine - and you can spend you day drinking exotic Caribbean cocktails.

The resort also has a spa where you can spend your time relaxing, as well as a beauty salon for a little more pampering.

When you've eventually decided that you are about as relaxed as is possible it is time to do something more bubbly - golfers will be happy to learn that El Conquistador has a prize winning gold course and at night you might like to take to the tables of the casino - where you can play roulette, 21 or poker. And the whole family will like the water park, pools and beaches - El Conquistador even has its own personal Caribbean island where you can wile away a few happy hours.

A touch further a field, you could like to go hiking in Puerto Rico's rain forest, El Yunque, or visit the historical Old San Juan. While you meander the brightly painted streets you may also like to visit San Juan's two forts, El Morro and San Cristobal. They date back to the instances when Puerto Rico was Spanish occupied and give you a genuine sense of history.
