Five Things You Must Do In Sharm el Sheikh

By Rob Atherton

Sharm is Egypt's oldest and most popular resort. Its magnificent weather appeals to people from Europe and the rest of the globe all year round. During the day, holiday makers rest on the beach locations or by the swimming pool and in the evening, Sharm el Sheikh Old Town and Na'ama Bay come alive with a lot of bars, cafes and restaurants offering something for absolutely everyone.

In the daytime, for people who have to have something to keep them busy, there are a number of excursions out there and these are definitely five of the recommended ones available. One of the foremost factors that attracted visitors to the region was the amazing underwater life and you're able to investigate the coral reefs with a snorkeling trip. The most a favourite destinations for the day excursions are the Ras Mohammed National Park or Jackson Reef in the Straits of Tiran. Irrespective of which excursion you decided upon, you defintely won't be let down.

A couple of hours away is Mount Sinai and there are frequent coach trips taking holidaymakers to the highest spot in the Sinai to witness the sun rise over the desert landscape. The scenery around the mountains is dramatic and people choosing the early start won't be sorry. A different well loved spot in the Sinai is the incredible Colour Canyon. Exploring by 4-wheel drive vehicles, people will be able to discover the renowned shapes and colours and rock formations of the Colour Canyon.

Cairo is always a popular day trip from Sharm and frequent tours by plane and bus take people off to the Egyptian capital. The day gets going with a visit to the Cairo Museum which is rife with ancient treasures which includes the well known Mask of Tutankhamen. From the museum, the next stop is lunch of a Nile river boat prior to venturing over to Giza and the Pyramids. The Sphinx is a brief bus ride away and when you finish spending time there, there is still time to take in a perfume shop and a papyrus shop prior to travelling back to Sharm.

Not wanting to overlook an Egyptian encounter, a different well liked Sharm tour is an early evening camel ride out in the desert as well as a Bedouin meal. Taking in the quiet of the desert under a starlit sky is a great way to wind down after a day unwinding on the beach front.
