World's Best Eco-friendly Beaches

By Aaron Maurette

In our search for the best beaches we concentre on things like luxury, food and infrastructure and we have come to forget the basics of human survival. We do not realize that the most important things are the things that we take for granted such as the air we breathe and the water we drink. Let us all contribute to a healthier planet. Below you will find a list of the best eco-friendly beaches.

Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Islands, Australia: This beach has won many awards as a conservation area. It is actually located on a National park so you will not find any sort of human built infrastructure in the Whitsunday Island. Not even accommodation facilities and you can stay overnight. Instead you can stay in any of the islands nearby.

Playa Matapalo, Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica: Blessed a impenetrable rain forest and a conservation-minded government, the Osa Peninsula is known as the lungs of our planet. Half of all species in Costarica can be found here. The beach is made of gray-sands and is very popular amongst wind surfers.

Hanauma Bay, Hawaii: With a reach coral reef life Hanauma Bay is one of the top spots in the state for snorkelling. In the past this beach was well polluted and marine life was very scarce. But the thanks to new environmental policies such as restricting the number of visitors the former fragile ecosystem has now flourished.

Koh Libong, Trang Province, Thailand: Perhaps the main advantage of these beach is the lack of crowds. In certain seasons your only companions on the beach will be the dweller hermit crabs. The beach has a refreshingly natural atmosphere, and it is in fact protected as a flora and fauna reserve.

Las Islas Cies, Galicia, Spain: The islands feature marvelous beaches, nature parks, wildlife, hiking paths to historical sites, camping areas and lovely restaurants. Isla Cies is most famous for its kilometer long, pristine beach, Playa de Rodas, which in a half circle joins two of the three islands which form the complex.
