Egypt Day Trips to Sharm el Sheikh

By Steve Alexander

For a modern adventure in Egypt, look no further than Sharm el Sheikh. The city of peace offers everything a vacationer would want from 21st century travel. With a coastal strip along the Red Sea, Sharm was founded as a diving resort, and snorkelling and scuba diving remains one of the main attractions, welcoming visitors from all parts of Egypt.

For an enjoyable day trip for the entire family, why not take a submarine tour to discover a variety of shark species. For hundreds and thousands of years, many species of shark have inhabited the area, such as grey reef, leopard sharks, hammerheads and whale sharks. The ethereal underwater reefs kick off these expeditions, allowing you to explore hundreds of kaleidoscopic schools of fish and coral types, and many other underwater surprises along the way.

As one of the fastest growing social and nightlife scenes, Sharm el Sheikh is also a great place to party. If you love to mix with like-minded revellers, a day or two spent in Sharm is definitely recommended, whether you stay at luxury retreats in Cairo, or all inclusive hotels in Luxor.

Often described as the 'Magaluf of Egypt', the scene here includes clubs such as Little Buddha, the Pangaea club, and the ever popular Pacha chain. In fact, there are a huge variety of bars and clubs to discover that cater to a range of different music tastes.

Away from the clubbing scene, there is still plenty on offer in Sharm if you want to take a day trip there. The location of the promenade there, next to the seafront, means there is always fresh seafood on sale, as well as other cuisines, such as Lebanese, Italian and Chinese. It's also one of the best locations in Egypt for shopping. This is a resort where east really meets west, offering a balance between tradition and modernity, with a range of high end boutiques, quaint cafes and indulgent eateries to discover.
