Travel, See, Learn- Tips For You

By Ann Hundt

The candle will make the room smell better and feel more like home. Candles are relaxing, give off a wonderful glow and are romantic. Many companies make these candles in convenient small sizes and without any waxy drips.

Force yourself to stay awake at least until early evening in order to acclimate better after you change time zones. Even if you are tired, going to bed too early can prolong jet lag by keeping your body in your home time zone. Jet lag will go away as soon as you're on the local schedule, so get your body adjusted as quickly as possible.

Get educated about foreign food ingredients to prevent unintentional exposure to allergens. You need to know the language's food related words, particularly if you have bad reactions to foods. This will give you the ability to alert your waiter or waitress of the foods that you have an allergy to so that they can be kept out of your meals.

If a hotel is full, try asking for an out-of-service room. Rooms that need minor repairs, like a fresh coat of paint, are usually noted as being out-of-service.

Choose your clothes carefully when you are going on a trip. Choose clothing items with multiple potential uses. For example, footwear and jackets can usually accommodate more than one outfit. This will let you travel lighter.

If you travel to a foreign country, it can be a good idea to bring your own bottled water. Because other countries do not purify their water, you can get many illnesses from drinking it. Also, when you are brushing your teeth, use the bottled water. It is quite possible to become ill if you do not use it for this type of personal hygiene task.

Unfortunately, you cannot depend on an airline to see to your needs, even if your traveling involves a lengthy flight. A flight is often more comfortable when you bring along comfort items; such as a blanket, a pillow or your own set of headphones. Perhaps you should bring some snacks if it is allowed.

Always carry an updated color photo of your child with you. This will come in handy if they are ever lost. Losing a child in a foreign place can be very stressful and scary. No matter how thoroughly it is guarded against, it can still happen.

Take the local currency with you on your next trip. Some countries have difficulty changing currency past business hours. You can also visit a major bank and get some foreign currency before you even start your trip.
